Beach Portraits
WEDNESDAYS 3:30-5:30 SATURDAYS 4:00-6:00

Week
1. What is a portrait? Finer points of posing. Maintaining visual control. What makes a beach setting special? Equipment review.
Assignment; Photograph a portrait using two different backgrounds and two poses.
Print four color 4x6’s or 5x7’s
2. Review prints and choose enlargements. Lighting, Strobes, flashes and battery packs. Fill light and ambient light spectacular balance.
Assignment; Photograph a portrait, using fill light to balance ambient light (dusk or dawn). Pay attention to backgrounds.
Print six color 4x6’s or 5x7’s.
3. Meet at the Beach. Beach access to be determined. Shoot and return to class review shoot and prints from last week select enlargements. Shooting RAW files, editing software.
Assignment; Photograph Beach portraits. Use different poses and backgrounds. Try traditional and different colors on models. Print seven color 4x6’s or 5x7’s
4. Meet in class, review prints and select enlargements. Meet and Shoot at Beach Access number 1. Next to the Elizabeth Point Lodge.
Assignment; Keep shooting, Vary times of day number of models and clothing. Print eight color 4x6’s or 5x7’s.
** Bring album, lap top/cd slideshow, matt and frame to next class.
5. Review prints and select enlargements. Presentations and albums. Professional photographers’ suppliers, printers, associations and networks.
